DPIIT recognition for eligible startups — 3-year tax exemption, 80% patent rebate, Angel Tax exemption, and government procurement priority.
Startup India Registration is a government initiative launched on January 16, 2016, administered by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). It provides formal recognition, financial incentives, and regulatory simplification to eligible early-stage businesses. A startup is defined as an entity incorporated in India less than 10 years old, with annual turnover not exceeding Rs.100 crore, engaged in innovation, development, or improvement of products, processes, or services with a scalable business model.
DPIIT recognition is the gateway to privileges that dramatically reduce the cost and complexity of building a startup — including a 3-year income tax exemption under Section 80-IAC, 80% rebate on patent filing fees, Angel Tax exemption, priority in government procurement, and access to the Rs.10,000 crore Fund of Funds through SIDBI. Eligible structures include Private Limited Companies, LLPs, and Registered Partnership Firms. Sole Proprietorships and Public Limited Companies are NOT eligible.
MFiling manages the complete DPIIT recognition application — from incorporation to certificate — ensuring all eligibility criteria are met and documentation is complete. Government fee: Free. MFiling professional charges: from Rs.2,999. Processing time: 2–5 working days.
