BIS certification for products under Quality Control Orders — ISI Mark, Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS), and Foreign Manufacturer Certification Scheme (FMCS).
BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification is mandatory for products covered under Quality Control Orders (QCOs) issued by the Government of India under the BIS Act, 2016. Products under QCOs cannot be manufactured in India or imported without a valid BIS licence. Covered categories include electronics and electrical products, toys, helmets, steel products, cement, food products, medical devices, and chemicals — with new QCOs notified regularly.
BIS operates three main certification schemes: ISI Mark Scheme for domestic manufacturers (products tested against Indian Standards with factory inspection), Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) for electronics products (self-declaration with BIS lab testing — used for mobile phones, laptops, LED lights, adapters), and Foreign Manufacturer Certification Scheme (FMCS) for overseas manufacturers importing into India. Non-compliance results in product seizure, recall, market bans, and penalties under the BIS Act.
MFiling assists manufacturers and importers in identifying applicable BIS schemes, preparing technical documentation, coordinating factory inspections, and obtaining BIS certification. Processing time: 30–90 days depending on scheme. MFiling professional charges: from Rs.9,999.
