Voluntary GST cancellation when business closes or falls below threshold — or revocation of officer-cancelled registration after clearing all pending returns and dues.
GST registration cancellation can be voluntary (taxpayer-initiated when business ceases, falls below threshold, or undergoes legal restructuring) or suo moto by GST Officer (for non-filing of returns for 6 consecutive months for regular taxpayers, or 3 consecutive tax periods for Composition dealers). Cancellation takes effect from the date specified in the cancellation order.
A taxpayer whose registration was cancelled by the officer can apply for revocation within 30 days of the cancellation order (extendable by 30+30 days). Revocation requires filing all pending returns and paying all outstanding tax, interest, and penalties. Cancellation triggers mandatory ITC reversal on closing stock and filing of GSTR-10 final return within 3 months. MFiling manages both voluntary cancellation applications and revocation petitions, including calculation and payment of tax on closing stock.
Government fee: Nil. MFiling professional charges: from Rs.1,499 for cancellation; from Rs.2,499 for revocation (includes pending return filing coordination).
